Actually the majority of the worlds deaths due to war (overwhelmingly) 86% are to do with social utopian dreams. AKA athiest leaders perpetrating massive genocides and creating war for their ideals (i wish i could remember where i sourced this).

Also many of those "religious wars" happened due to political reasons. Its far more complected than you would think.

I believe what she is saying is that religion is the solution to the problem, it is the embodiment of the words of loving morality. however its not being followed, rather its exploited by people who fear things different to themselves. the fear of the 'other'. rather than the love for the human creature, gods beloved creation.

Its a call to authenticity rather than a criticism of religion (it is a criticism of the inauthentic religious person AND those lacking religious or moral conviction). Consider it like nuclear fission. The principle that can birth both nuclear power and the atomic bomb. Its how you use it that counts.

True! Religion has divided more than united. Where is your God for real? Holy Wars since the beginning of time to justify MURDER and HATRED with claims of this pleasing the Creator. No wonder God promises to destroy religion before the end. (Revelation 18:20-24)

I know her personally. She was born in Trinidad and grew up in the States. It's pretty hard to switch your accent when you've been comfortable with one for quite a while. But she can do it. Just clearing the air on that.
