“‘Major’ is the rock n’ roll record by the rock n’ roll band we’ve been waiting to hear, for years,” states Claude Kelly co-founder of Weirdo Workshop. “It’s catchy and with one listen you remember it, but you get its got all the edge that a band needs to take the world by storm.”
As a band, Kes is a largely family affair. Kees Dieffenthaller is joined by brothers Hans and Jon Dieffenthaller on drums and guitar, respectively, with longtime friend Riad Boochoon bringing in some outside blood as the quartet’s bassist. In the realm of Caribbean music, they’ve been known as the preeminent contemporary purveyors of Soca, the regionally ubiquitous style that incorporates calypso and reggae. With their new release, Window to the World, they aim to do their version of world music, which will incorporate all the soulful R&B, rock and other elements of genres that have influenced them over the years.
“We’re absolutely excited to be working with Chuck and Claude, especially since we have all connected musically,” states lead singer Kees. “What we’re doing now with them involves a freedom of expression that we’ve never experienced before and we can’t wait to share with our fans and to make new ones.”
