Just heard the news that one of the top steelbands in T&T will be going with "Full Of Vibe" by Voice & Marge Blackman for Panorama 2018! 🙂
I think this is a smart move as this song is already a massive hit so everyone attending Panorama 2018 will be familiar with the original song and so will be able to fully appreciate what the arranger decides to do with the song arrangement.
Looks like more and more steelbands in T&T are going back to the older tradition of playing popular soca songs that the public is regularly hearing in the Carnival fetes rather than playing songs especially written for steelbands and for the Panorama competition. This should help to bring back the sellout crowds who want to party in the true spirit of carnival to the Panorama Finals.
Congrats to Voice, Marge Blackman and the producer Isaac Blackman on having their tune selected by one of the top T&T steelbands for Panorama 2018! Marge's father Ras Shorty-I would be proud as he started his career as a steelpan player and arranger even before recording his first calypsos in the early 1960's!
