What's This?

BOY BOY AND THE MAGIC DRUM
The book “Boy Boy and the Magic Drum” is set in Trinidad & Tobago described as Carnival land. Trinidad & Tobago is known for its oil. With development came industrialization and pollution. The book depicts conservation of the environment, recycling and the coming together of its people. “Boy Boy” the main character represents Trinidad and Tobago’s identity and he is called upon to save Carnival land. He gets the discarded oil drum which is recycled into the steel pan, the only musical instrument invented in the 21st Century known as the “Magic Drum” in the book.

Carnival which is one of the main festivals of Trinidad and Tobago has to be saved by Boy Boy. To do this Boy Boy has to take the magical musical instrument and go through the town bringing behind him the Rainbow Brew, the people of Trinidad and Tobago (Indian, Chinese, African, Caucasian and Syrian) and blends of each.
“They had all come together to save Carnival Land.”

Boy Boy is also seen as the author, Machel Montano who has been described as “Too Young to Soca” but who is known as an entertainer famous for bringing large numbers of people together. The illustrator Kenneth Scott is known for his precision.
Together the Author, The Illustrator and all other contributors present “Boy Boy and the Magic Drum” for all to enjoy.
