Follow up to my Work makeup tutorial: here’s a look that’s slightly more dramatic but still classy and conservative enough for work. Apologies for my background! I actually filmed this a while ago before I had my new background set up.
One thing to remember is: Don’t go crazy on colour. Stick to one pop of colour, whether on the lid, lower lash line, strong cheek or bright lips, and keep the rest understated. If you want to do a darker/smokier eye, stick to one or two colours (in the same family and not too neon), and stick to mattes or satin finishes. Remember that high-shimmer says “party” or “fashionista”, not “professional” in most cases. Crazy looks really only work for people who work in the fashion/beauty industry – which is actually something that irks me. I wish that certain kinds of makeup and looks didn’t carry a stigma that extends to the industry itself, but it is what it is.
