I waited anxiously for this foundation to launch in Trinidad! The hype behind this foundation is unreal so I definitely needed to see if its really as good as it’s said to be.
“The foundation is a Demi-Matte Finish that is never dull or flat, it is air light, oil free and lasts 24hrs.”
I would admit that I was really excited about this Demi-Matte Finish Situation because for the love of me, I just wanted a foundation to take the excess oil away & keep it away…Why is that so hard? *angry face*
Off course this is not the first foundation on the market geared towards mattifying oily skin. Both L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation and Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless launched around the same time, so its hard not to compare them as they were both targeting the same skin type, but there’s definitely a winner in my book.
Texture & Coverage- This is a thicker foundation with a airy-mousse-like consistency. It covers well with one application, but can also be built up for more coverage. The shade that I got “looked” too light for my skin, but after blending into my skin it was perfect.
Pro-Matte- Yes! This foundation dries like a dream! Upon application it dries really quickly (faster than the Fit Me Foundation), so ensure that you work with it fast. It dries on the face with an airbrushed look. This foundation does not state that it blurs pores or evens texture, but it gives the skin a smooth even appearance that is really beautiful. Every time I wear this foundation I am in complete awe at the formulation.
24hrs- I don’t think I’ve ever worn a foundation for 24hrs but, 6-8 hours is the prime time for this foundation. After 6-8 hours, you will need to touch up or blot, I didn’t look excessively oily just a little shine and that was taken care of with some powder. This is a semi-matte finish, so its suppose to cover the oil but not completely mattify the face.
Overall- I love this foundation! I do think it is at the same level as the Revlon Colorstay 24hr Foundation (I just haven’t come to terms with this yet because I really love my Revlon foundation). I honestly would say that this foundation is one of the best on the market.
As compared to the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless, L’oreal’s Infallible is the clear winner because it has more coverage, the texture is phenomenal and gives a beautiful airbrushed look, unlike the Fit Me Foundation which is a lot lighter in coverage, goes on too liquidy on the skin and, a hugh downfall, can oxidize on the face causing it to look too light or too dark after some wear.
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation is at a higher price than most drugstore foundation at $80.00TT, but it’s worth it and looks just like some of the “higher end” foundations.
