PRESS RELEASE – Silver Shadow Performing Arts Academy is proud to present the Final Showcase of the re-staging of the dance production, “Poetry in Motion” on Friday 18th December 2015 at the National Cultural Centre from 8:00 p.m.
The production “Poetry in Motion” is an artistic showcase of dance works inspired by selected poems written by our very own Nobel Prize winner and cultural icon Hon. Derek Walcott.
The production will feature poems such as; A City’s Death by Fire, A Far Cry from Africa, Blues, The Glory Trumpeter, Love after Love, After the Storm and the Star in a theatrical fantasy where Minnie the main character goes through a physical and emotional metamorphosis as she gains a better understanding of herself and life as she delves deeper into the poems of Derek Walcott. “Poetry in Motion” will be performed by an amazing cast of 12 outstanding dancers from the Silver Shadow Performing Arts Academy.
“Poetry in Motion” was first performed on 31st January 2015 as part of Nobel Laureate week celebrations 2015 and also got the opportunity to be exhibited as part of the dance showcasing in Haiti in August 2015 at CARIFESTA 12 Edition.
This production hopes to promote youth in the performing arts, develop a culture where the public attends and supports theatrical productions, raise the level of awareness of the performing arts and allow the youth an avenue to channel their exuberance, to ensure the continued promotion and development of Saint Lucia’s art & culture.
The 12 member performing cast includes dancers Ron Gill, Shartoya Jn Baptiste, Sylanne Raymond, Patrice Lewis, Akina Randolph, Kacy Poleon, Sadia Chandles, Vejay Sydney, Gideon Ambrose, Crystal Octave, Natanni St. Omer and narrator played by 2014 National Carnival Queen Licia Jn Paul.
Silver Shadow Performing Arts Academy hopes to get the full support of the general public as they get set to create yet another historic artistic showcasing with the production “Poetry in Motion”.
