The Yucca Collection is a minimalist collection of halter tops, tank dresses and soon to be released crotchet tops.

The colour schemes included in this collection are inspired greatly by the deep hues of Sub Saharan sands and earthy tones of the Savannah veld.

This minimalist collection is inspired not only by the colours of the desert architectural Yucca plant, but also by colour schemes found in landscapes of Botswana such as the Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi salt pans and the sand dunes of the Kgalagadi desert.

These schemes are meant to not only compliment all skin tones around Africa but also embrace the complex simplicity that our continent holds. This is displayed in the assortment of 10 colours (black, olive green, tan, nude, grey, deep orange, cream white, burgundy, grey green and beige) that the tops are available in.

The Yucca Collection was released under Glotto; a creative platform orchestrated by aspiring make-up artist and stylist Sadie Simanyana and aspiring creative director and stylist Mboko Basiami.

The SS15/16 Yucca Collection lookbook was based on the concept of daring young African women exploring their daunting, unexplored landscape with a spontaneous spirit of youth, and an unconventional and almost masculine traits.

The trait of young African women going out bravely for a swim with no men around them for protection, but with the confidence of one.

The lookbook aims to show a story of a predator and prey with the viewer not knowing which is which. On one hand, the models are bearing innocent faces exposed by their tight bantu knots held in place. On the other hand, the models are self-assured and standing upright as if ready for attack, their hostile and masculine stances contrast heavily with the light tones of their apparel and light touch of make up on their faces.

Such a concept is to display the unorthodox nature that the African woman has, the power to challenge and yet retain an acquitted demeanor in the face of an unknown outsider.

This collection is already available for sale to the public and for local (African orders) contacts are +26772173552 and +26776745849 and follow and DM Glotto for international orders. Website will be launched by the end of the year.
