The rest of the Caribbean seems to be confuse as to what is bouyon music. This right here is a more modern sound of bouyon music that most Dominicans in Dominica can relate too. Famalay on the other hand is what we consider old skool bouyon. Matter fact i can show yall better than i can tell you old skool bouyon mix.

Much respect to Asa for this one. FIRE…. The thing is that what he is saying is right. Look no further than Machel, Bunji and Skinny's Famalay, produced by a D.A producer, but no D.A artist featured. The fact is, as Caribbean carnival music such as soca, Jab jab etc moves closer to being more mainstream, it is even more important than before to be identifiable. If you ask any european/American if they know or have heard of reggae, soca, salsa etc and where they generally come from they will say yes. Why, because artists had the opportunity to bring their sounds to the masses. Where as the Bouyon sound is being used and adopted by artists from other islands and identified as just another style of Soca music. Much love to Machel and the other artists but we need to do better.
